Friends of Pickhill School
FOPS stands for 'Friends of Pickhill School' and is a small group, made up of parents, that meets once a month, to help to raise money for the school through fund raising days and activities.
Money raised has helped to provide new books, new apparatus, swimming lessons, sports coaching, days and trips out among many other things. We raise several thousands of pounds each year. Some of our events are the Easter Eggstravaganza, Strawberry Fayre and Bonfire Party as well as regular Film Nights, Pub Quizzes and the Autumn Ball.
Any one can join and we are always delighted to receive new members and ideas. We've had people who have baked cakes, taken photographs, done gardening, put up marquees, manned stalls, delivered leaflets, organised events, shopped for food for events, acted as first aiders etc. We all work part-time or full-time so we understand how busy parents are and spread the workload out. Our current members are:
Chairperson - Heather Barker, Vice Chair - John Moody, Joint Treasurers - Matthew Cornforth, Rebecca Cornforth, Secretary - Sharon Bainbridge, Marketing/Publicity - Vicky Holyer
We’re aware that we’re a small community and we’re often asking villagers to help us raise funds, so we have some events out of the villages, such as the ball, so we’re not always asking the same people for money. In addition to this, some of our events such as the Strawberry Fayre, we hope, is very much a community event to be enjoyed by everyone.
Please come along to our next meeting, or, have a chat with us at the next event, but most importantly - have a great time!
